The acting bug has bit Beyoncé once again, but this time she's not auditioning for a role, she's creating one for herself. There are talks that she is in the process of penning the story of Saartjie Baartman (nicknamed Hottentot Venus), the widely known woman from South Africa, who traveled to Europe seeking a better life in 1800s, only to be put on display because of her enlarged posterior and curvaceous shape.
"Beyoncé is desperate to be taken seriously as an actress. Even though she's had a string of well-received movies, she still feels her breakthrough role is yet to come," reported by a source to The Sun.
What many may not know is Beyoncé's had her share of acting for quite sometime; first in the TV Sitcom Thea with singer/actress/Broadway star Brandy and the "hip-hopera" remake of the Dorothy Dandridge movie Carmen. But it wasn't until her breakout role as Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers that we started to see some shine. She then went on to star in Pink Panther, Dreamgirls as Dreena which got her very close to an Oscar, and played alongside our #bae Idris Alba in Obsessed --- with a quite respectable fight scene.
Mrs. Knowles-Carter is so serious, she has hired a team of coaches and consultants to help maker her first screenplay debut a success. She's even begun researching heavily on the story of Saartjie, to ensure its authenticity.
You go girl!
